Principal engineer — storage, security compliance and AI systems.
I build the systems that decide whether other systems are safe. Seventeen years across enterprise storage, virtualisation and security compliance at Dell, most recently designing a private-cloud compliance engine and leading the team behind it. I am equally at home leading a team and writing the hardest part of the code myself.
Two versions of the same career. Same facts, different emphasis — take whichever fits the role you have in mind.

Outside engineering, I spend my time on healing practices, contemplative study and writing. I find the two halves feed each other more than people expect.
Notes on security, AI and storage.
Everyone talks about remediating findings. Almost nobody talks about the work of deciding what counts as a finding in the first place.
A deployment failure sat open for over two weeks. What actually broke it loose says something specific about where agents are useful.
The industry treats storage as infrastructure plumbing. The actual constraints are as sharp as anything in distributed systems.
